Teefa Doodles

i have always had this creative side of me that loves art, specifically in doodling and sketching. When i was little, i did these cute little drawing of myself and my family, of castles, princesses and mermaids, and i always draw stuff and hide notes for my dad to find.

Fast forward to adulthood, nothing really changed. i still draw but less princess, more doodles of women. Sometimes, when i'm bored or when i'm stuck in a long meeting, i found myself doodling random stuff. Friends who sees my doodling would say that they are nice but i just shrugged it off. i never thought of it seriously.

Until recently.

i found myself obsessing over sketching and coloring. i'd Google stuff like "how to draw face expression" or "watercolor for beginners". i'd watch videos on Youtube on watercoloring and lettering. i even bought a proper tools for sketcing and coloring. i started with a sketchpad (200gsm instead of the normal A4 paper), a set of brush pens that could be used as watercolor (Sakura Koi Brush Pen), and various brushes.

Slowly, doodles, illustration and letters started to fill my initially-blank sketch pad.

i'll show you but don't laugh okay? These are very rookie/newbie/amateur/whatever term for a beginner.

A sketch of my friend, Shaf.

My new Hershel backpack that i bought on sale

A gorgeous, gorgeous pair of shoes that i so want but can't afford.

This little card i made for my Mama-in-law on Mother's Day but didn't send out. Bad menantu! Will present it to her on Hari Raya.

Guess who?

A late-night doodling when the boys were asleep and i wasn't. i drew this girl and on the last moment after i painted her lips, the sleeve of my t-shirt spoiled the still-wet paint. Menangis mak! But it kinda looks like the girl had her lipstick ruined by a really good kiss lol

Afif and Dhani's current obsession is Wall-E.

 Kids

And then i got interested in flowers, leaves and wreathes. i began finding my way into them..

There you go, a peek into my sketch book. All of these are sketched using pens and colored with Sakura Koi brus pens. Banyak la lagi tapi tak cantik langsung especially my lettering. Ni buku dah nak abes mukasurat, kene beli buku baru haha.

Watercolor Workshop by The Craft Crowd

Last Saturday i attended a watercolor workshop for the very first time. Semangat takkk? Because i still have so much to learn, might as well i go out and learn from professionals. This workshop is the perfect one for my first proper class. We're painting tulips!

i thought i'd do okay as i'm quite familiar with brushes and colors but boy, i am wrong. First of all, real watercolor is so different than these colors from brush pens. Second of all, i found it hard to 'budget' the water and color ratio. Like how much should i dilute? Ehhh why la my colors don't shade as beautifully like the girls in front of me? i panicked and convinced that watercolor is not for me, i might as well give up now. Third of all, it seems like people come with friends and the instructor knows some of them quite well. i did make small talks but at a workshop like this, everyone is engrossed with their work. How to properly talk laa? i feel lonely with no one to talk to.

Anyway, at first i hated my painting but the more i look at it the more i feel like they're not too bad. Ada lah rupa tulips, tak la jadi rupa rumah ke rocket ke kann..

At the start of the workshop. We sketched our tulips.

The end results.
Not too bad but definitely need improvement.

Now i have a set of real water color. i can't wait to explore and create beautiful things. These things definitely need lots and lots of practice which means i need to spend time on it. Time is not really a luxury for me as i have a full time job, house to manage with two kids to look after and grow. But it's okay. Will take it slowly and no giving up!

Wish me luck in my arts journey. i have a goal and a plan for this but it's still so premature. Will share with you from time to time. In the meantime, you can check my doodles out in Instagram account @teefadoodles and hashtag #teefadoodles.

Rumah Impian

As you all are (maybe) aware of, i'm still living with family.

Mula-mula berdua je. Now dah ada Afif, we need BIGGER space.

We're in talks of buying the family house from my parents-in-law. Diorang pon dah buat umah besar kat Kuching, memang settle down sana. Elok lah kami beli umah tu dari diorang. Tapi ntah ler jadi ke tak.

Suka rumah tu sebab location (near KL, dekat ngan sume bende seperti malls, office, sekolah, highways..), house type (linked corner lot house, jalan depan rumah luas), saiz yang sederhana tak besar tak kecil and of course memories made there. Tapi rumah tu dah berumur lebih 20 tahun kot. Laki aku dok situ dari tadika lagi. Banyak lah renovation kene buat especially piping and wiring. Tukar perabot dan kabinet. The kitchen is in serious need of remodeling. Heee.. Bila pikir potential of the house, rasa best nya deco-deco. Best, asalkan jangan pikir pasal wang yang bakal dikeluarkan.

Mari lah berangan pasal rumah idaman daripada layan perot berkeroncong kelaparan.

Exterior

Idok ler aku mengidamkan rumah banglo sebijik dengan keadaan ekonomi skang. Gilo engko. Tapi aku mengidamkan exterior lebih kurang gini. French house inspired exterior katanya. Tak banyak lekuk and corners. Big windows. Natural colors. Ornate wrought iron grilles. Suka ada bumbung. Aku tak berapa berkenan dengan design rumah sekarang yang petak-petak, modern dan minimalis sangat. Call me old-fashioned but aku lagi suka yang timeless gini.

Kitchen

For me, kitchen is a very important room. A place for the family to gather for a meal, berborak and i imagine me and my kids setting up the table for dinner and washing dishes after. For kitchen, i like a blend of traditional and modern styles. Yang penting, counter top mesti dark color supaya tak nampak kotor sangat. Ada a hint of fresh, bright color supaya tak nampak dull sangat dapurnya. Kabinet color cerah macam cream or white supaya nampak luas. In our case, dapur rumah tu memang luas tapi dia memanjang. Maka idok ler ada island or breakfast bar bagai nanti.

Living Room

Living room is where we entertain guests. Aku suke yang santai aje. Basic colored sofa with some bright colored cushions, fluffy carpet, and a coffee table. Maybe add on a side table with family photos on it. Tapi aku ni malas mengelap, takleh banyak banyak harta. Kumpul habuk je kang.

Hobby Space

We plan to convert the space on the second floor to a hobby space. Hubby and i have different interest. He likes computer stuff, jamming, and membeger-beger barang. i'm a bookworm and i use the computer mainly for the internet, picture storing, and watching movies/series. So our hobby space has to accomodate some space for his guitars and the drum set he plans to buy, our laptops and computer and also my books. My precious books! Sounds messy. Tak tercapai dek akalku sekarang. Nanti lah pikir. But please, i want a reading bench by the window with lots of fluffy cushions!

Our Bedroom

Nampak tak belakang katil dia ada almari besar? Nak!

Honestly, sekarang bilik kitorang adalah crowded. Situ lah barang aku, hubby and Afif. Situ lah computer dan tempat simpan handbags. Aku takda meja solek, nak mekap kene gi bilik air.

So nanti dah renovate rumah memang sangat berangan nak bilik tidur simple yang memang untuk rehat, tidur, ruang solat dan ehem le sexy time. Nak juga dengan almari yang besarrrr dan vanity table. Idaman hati memang la nak walk in wardrobe tapi skang takde plan nak besarkan rumah. So a big wardrobe pon boley la. And windows. i love to leave my windows open and curtains drawn when i'm in.

Playroom

Sebab Afif kecik lagi tak dapat lah bayangkan dia ada bedroom sendiri. Playroom pon macam gah sangat bunyi nya. Cukup lah sekadar ada space untuk dia simpan toys, play, learn and get crafty. We'll just probably buy a cabinet or two for storage, hampar playmat dan biar dia buat sepah situ.

Gahhhh..

Bestnya berangan.

Dreams are free katanya. Uols jangan gelakkan i pulak bila rumah i nanti tak cantik camni. Muahaha..

In 3 Days..

..we'll be hubby and wifey! InsyaAllah..

Can't say i'm totally ready. Things are all over the place!

Doorgift packing is mostly done. Mula-mula saya nakkkk sangat bagi telur rebus. i like the traditionality in that. Tapi bila memikirkan payah dan lecehnya merebus, saya lupakan saja. Cukup lah barang yang telah diberi. Plus, takyah susahkan sanak sedara merebus. Then last week, Wan telah menjadi drama queen dan cakap "Biar lah susah ke ape ke, aku nak bagi jugak telur rebus! Kalo ko tanak nanti aku merajuk!" Hamboiiii dah pandai blackmail saya. Mementang la birthday dia (the 90th!). Ade la telur rebus nanti gamaknyeee...

Gubah-menggubah hantaran diserahkan bulat-bulat kepada makcik-makcik saya. i'm the first cucu to get married on my mum's side. Maka nenek dan aunty-aunty sangat excited nak menggubah itu ini. Lantak la eh.. i bought the materials and i trust their creativity. *Ya Allah tolongggg la jangan old-fashioned sangat hantaranku nanti!*

Mini pelamin tempat berposing masa nikah nanti Mr. Chenta nak buat. i wanted to just rent tapi dia kata, "Buat apa sewa mahal-mahal? Pakai kejap je pon nak posing je. Dah la kita nikah kat masjid! Biar i buatkan.." Saya pon pasrah la membiarkan dia buatkan. So far dia dah siapkan mini stage. We'll look for kain for backdrop and fikirkan gubahan bunga. *Ya Allah tolongggg la cantik mini pelaminku nanti*

Baju nikah, baju reception dan segala aksesori dah diambil! Homaigoddddd.. When you have these things in your hands, rasa macam "This is it. It's really happening!" Saya agak tidak berpuas hati dengan baju reception. Thank God we have a back up plan.

Rumah masih tunggang langgang. Belum berkemas. Adik-adik saya demam. Kuranglah tenaga kerja. Haiyooo..

My DIY guestbook is still in progress. Ingatkan nak hantar bind macam masa buat thesis aritu. Sempat ke ye??

All in all, rasanya this is not only mine and Mr. Chenta's wedding. Everybody's touch is everywhere. Aku ikotkan aje lah. i realize this is not only my wedding, they also wanna be a big part of it. Cuma harapnya okay lah semua. Amin.

Dilema Hiasan Bilik Pengantin

i'm having problem with this.

My room already has brown-and-white build-in wardrobe and desk. With brown parquet for flooring, it is clear that i don't have many choices in decorating our bilik pengantin. Nak tak nak, the theme is fixed to brown-white-cream.

While i think that brown-cream combination speaks cozy and homy, i can't help but think that it will look a bit dull in photos.

Anyhow..

Memandangkan sudah begitu keadaannya bilik saya (brown-white), saya surrender saja menjadikan cream and brown as the basic theme. Will add a splash of blue and maybe peach or purple to make it less dull in photographs. Mr. Chenta and i have shopped for duvet cover (white with brown lining. Sogo ada SALE! Then again bila je Sogo takda sale? :p) and the room's curtain (brown). Will paint the currently-purple room cream in the next one month.

So i Googled some images for bedroom decoration ideas...

Cream-brown with hints of purple. Cantek ennnn?

 Cozy cream-brown.

Cream-brown with hints of gold. Cantek and serene mata memandang.

Ini nampak sangat cozy and comfy. Rasa tanak bangon je dipagi Ahad. Just imagine the wall is in cream.

Currently this room looks more like what we have. The quilt cover and the curtains are very similar to ours. Except our walls will be in cream. i'll have to add a few blue cushions and buy mattress' sheet.

Looking at these photos made me feel a bit more optimistic. Bilik kami takkan extravaganza. Comfort is the key!
